I’ve been slowly leaking the following information over the last couple of weeks, but I figured it’s time for me to be a little less on the down-low and a little more out-in-the-open. So, here it is…for those who don’t know.
I began writing a blog, just to get my roommate off my back, about 2 years ago. Not too long after I started sharing my thoughts with the world, I got some positive feedback on it – surprise. About a year later, I was sitting in church and God placed in my spirit that one day I would be a writer – BIG surprise. It caught me off guard and I tucked it neatly under the “when I grow up” file. In recent months, I have not been able to get away from the repeated thought of beginning to pursue writing. So when someone suggested I look into attending the She Speaks Conference, I got excited about the opportunity and my dream began to take shape once again, this time in the forefront of my mind.
I have been an art teacher for the last 8 years and found out a couple of weeks ago that the school I work for is not renewing my contract for the next school year. This, in a way, has been the answer to a prayer that God would begin to open up opportunities to focus on writing and ministry. Though this adds stress to life overall, I am excited about where God is leading. I know that She Speaks is a great next step. In an attempt to raise the money for the conference I have set up a personal scholarship. I know writing is part of what God has for me and I am willing to do whatever it takes to learn more about how to write with excellence and write in a way that ministers to women around me.
So, here we go…new horizons, new things to learn and a small step…
out into the unknown
